CALL FOR PAPERS

HSSS Conferences endeavour to provide a platform to foster multidisciplinary discussions and support debates on the different sociological, economical, historical, pedagogical, philosophical, scientific and technological issues surrounding systems studies. They seek to advance knowledge about the effective and efficient implementation of systemic thinking by individuals, groups, organizations, society and nations for the improvement of economic and social welfare.

We welcome contributions that build on established lines of work as well as novel research streams. In particular, we are interested in high quality well-defined and analyzed theoretical surveys that provide a synthesis and comprehensive review of the historical development of one particular area of interest, and empirical studies, with strong grounding in a current or new theory, on important issues that have potential impact on organizations and are of value to researchers and practitioners in general and social sciences research community in specific.

The HSSS06 Conference is receptive to a wide variety of phenomena and topics related to the social policy, management, valuation with the impacts of systemic thinking at different levels of analysis (i.e., individuals, groups, firms, networks and societies).

The conference seeks research that examines system related topics from a wide range of scientific fields including, but not limited to, sociology, management, ebusiness, public policy, economics, finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, communication technologies, operations research, design science, organization studies, decision making, health care, cognitive science, environmental science, education, project management and strategic management. Diverse methods and approaches are welcome providing that they are relevant to the main theme of the conference.

Specific topics (applied to any of the above mentioned scientific fields) include, but are not limited to:

Publication opportunity:

Papers presented at the conference will be published in the conference proceedings with a refereeing procedure.

Selected papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in special issues of the following international journals (providing that there are high quality papers that are relevant to the main scope of each of these journals):

Note to Authors: Due to the large number of papers expected for this conference, the committee only allows an author to present up to two papers. Therefore, if multiple papers are accepted for presentation different co-authors need to present each paper.

Extended abstracts should be up to 500 words with up to six keywords. Submitted papers should not be more than 4,000 words including abstract, keywords and references (the Harvard referencing rules need to be followed). Papers should be submitted in English as .doc file attachments by email to the Conference email address: hsss06@soc.aegean.gr

Reviewing Process

§ The selection panel of the conference committee will consider all papers received by the submission deadline to ensure that the proposed paper is relevant to the Conference.

§ Paper selection notifications will then be sent out to relevant authors.

§ All full papers will be double-blind reviewed by members of the conference scientific committee to ensure an adequate standard, that the paper is of a suitable length, the standard of English is adequate and the paper is appropriately referenced. Their comments will be given to the author who will present the paper.

§ For authors whose first language is not English we request that you have your work proof read prior to submission by a native English speaker (or at least a fluent English speaker). Papers can be rejected due to a poor standard of English.

§ Papers that are accepted will be published in the conference proceedings providing at least one author registers and presents the work at the Conference (see the registration section of the conference website for more information about registration).
